Silent Songbird A deconstructed nest, A hatching in solitude, Resting upon cracked shells, A mother high in the sky, Presenting her song to the multitude of stars A disassembled nest, A hatchling in silence, Resting upon the rumbling of its internals, A prideful mother looking down on her creation, Precipitately prising out the common infant sounds, An abandoned nest, A songless Songbird, Resting upon grimy feathers, A mother hidden between leaves, Potent justifications sung towards the stars, “Other normal hatchlings sing loudly” An empty nest, A flightless songbird, Resting beneath pure snow, A former mother’s innocence, Proclaimed through ignorance, The stars bear witness, The eyes of the heavens, Have shifted its gaze in hesitation, To love the family of songbirds, To Love is to stay blind, A protection of pride The bright sunshine of Spring awakens A pile of dried sticks and bones, Resting upon the puddle of red, A mother caught, Precious secrets resurfaced und...
